Daughter of Hendrik Hanekom and Mathilde Hanekom, married to actor and manager Eghard van der Hoven.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
She had roles in Bitter Einde, Ek Onthou vir Mamma, Die Jakkalsstreke van Scapino, Drie Susters, Die Twisappel, 'n Maand op die Platteland, Die Onverwagte Besoeker, Maar die Gereg Vergeet Nooit, Oupa Kanniedood.
She directed Die Arrestasie in 1942.

She was recognised as one of the pioneers of Afrikaans theatre by the drama department of the Pretoria Technikon during a ceremony at the Breytenbach Theatre in Pretoria on 30 August 1994.
