Born Marviantoz Alejandro Baker in Steinkopf, Namaqualand, where he matriculated at Steinkopf High School. He then studied at the University of Stellenbosch, receiving a B.Dram. degree. His profile on his agent's website also claims that he studied Puppetry at West Virginia University.
