An annual festival, which runs in March. Theatre companies from Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Belgium, the US, Japan and Cuba participate in the festival at the Windybrow Centre for the Arts.
In 1994, the Windybrow Arts Festival took over productions from the Funda Arts Centre. This was of benefit to Soweto arts practitioners in that the festival was supported by the Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal (PACT) as well as by the Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO) and also by First National Bank who sponsored five awards directed specifically at Funda Art Centre productions. Productions included Ikasi, Igazi (1994), and Roadhouse.
