La Mort de Chaka is a play in five tableaux by Seydou Badian (1928-2018)[1] of Mali.


The original text

Originally written in French, La Mort de Chaka was first published by Presence Africaine, Paris, in 1961. A second edition appeared in 1962.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into English as The Death of Chaka by B. Wake (also given as Clive Wake[2]) and the text published by Oxford University Press, Nairobi in 1968 (second edition 1969).
