Het van Verlangekraal is the title of a television series and a 2022 radio serial, both based on the novel of the same name by Johann Bekker (1918–1985)[].

Het van Verlangekraal: The novel

It tells the tale "Het Heiberg", the daughter of a sharecropper, and her struggle to overcome her depressive lifestyle, and the role played in her recovery by her class teacher and his battle with the headmaster of the school.



Het van Verlangekraal: The TV series

Filmed as Het van Verlangekraal for television in 1983/1984 by Jan Scholtz Films with Sally Campher as "Het".

Het van Verlangekraal: The radio serial

Adapted for radio by Leon van Nierop, the serial consisted of 40 episodes and was broadcast weekly at 14:45, from 28 April 2022 to 22 June 2022.
