Biography

Son of theatre academic and critic Ludwig Binge. Married to actress Joanie Combrink and his son, Ludwig Binge has also gone into theatre. Herman passed away on 16 December 2021 in Cape Town.

Training

He studied at the Stellenbosch University where he was awarded a Ll.B. degree in March 1978. After having worked in Johannesburg as state prosecuter he returned to Stellenbosch to study drama.

Productions include such popular series as Death in the Family (1993), The Syndicate (1999), Known Gods (2005) Transito (2008), and the made-for-TV movies, Daisy de Melker (1993) and Pride of Africa (1997).
