Born in India, educated in Pietermaritzburg at Woodlands High School, University of Durban-Westville. He also had an MSc (Mathematics) from Stuttgart Hochschule, Germany. He was married to the actress Brenda Radloff.

He wrote the music for Jimbo, At the Edge and for productions presented at the Asoka Theatre at UDW.
He composed numerous scores for theatre productions; the most celebrated being the scores For Love of The Nightingale, Hamlet and At The Edge. He also composed the musicals Jimbo, Ikhaya and Coming Home. In a life that was all too short the wealth of his contributions was great and the most enduring work in the hearts of many South Africans will always be the theme music of the daily soap, Isidingo.
