The original text
A one act farce, "written for Miss Anna Quin", a child prodigy who played the young girl "Suzy" in the original production performed in London at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, in July 1857 by T.B. Buckstone and company. The play was also performed in the USA later in the same year, inter alia at Forbes' Theatre, Providence, with Miss Quinn reprising her role.
Published by William V. Spencer, Boston [ca. 1860] as No 155 of Spencer's Boston Theatre.

Performance history in South Africa
1859: Performed on 23 February in the Harrington Street Theatre, Cape Town by the young Annie Rowlands (at 13 years of age) as the central attraction in the role of "Suzy", supported by members of the Cape Town Dramatic Club, with A Bachelor of Arts (Hardwicke).
