F.C.L. Bosman (1980) refers to a number of people simply known as "Leonard",

A Leonard is mentioned as the Dutch author of one act plays and translator/adaptor of a number of French plays, though it is not indicated whether this person was a Dutch citizen or lived in South Africa. If he/she was a Cape Town resident, this Leonard was most probably a member of the local Rederijkerskamer for which the translations had been done.

The plays ascribed to Leonard include Levend Verbrand, De Zwarte Kaptein
