The Johannesburgse Afrikaanse Amateur Toneelspelers is an Afrikaans amateur theatre group in Johannesburg,
It is best known by the acronym JAATS (or J.A.A.T.S.).
The society evolved out of Schalk Theron’s Sonop Afrikaner Kring.
Some performances
On the 15th of December, 1949, they participated in the Inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument Pretoria, December 13 to 16, 1949, with a tableau scene called 'n Voortrekker Troue ("A Voortrekker Marriage") by Adèle Jooste.
They secured the rights to the premiere of the poet and playwright Uys Krige’s Die Goue Kring for their Festival production at the Library Theatre in 1956.
