Bakens: Gedramatiseerde mylpale uit die Groot Trek (Lit: "Beacons: Dramatised milestones of the Great Trek" [1]) by J.R.L. van Bruggen is a collection of Afrikaans one-act documentary plays, aimed at commemorating the Great Trek of 1839. The collection contains thirteen one-act plays: (1) Bethelsdorp; (2) Die weduwee van Lange Kloof ("The widow of the Lange Kloof"), (3) Slagtersnek (act one), (4) Slagtersnek (act two), (5) Liebenbergskop, (6) Die laaste aand ("The last evening"), (7) Retief by Vetrivier, (8) Retief in Port Natal, (9) Retief en Dingaan (act one); (10) Retief en Dingaan(act two); (11) Die moord by Bloukrans ("The murder at Bloukrans"); (12) Moeilike tye ("Difficult times"); and (13) Bloedrivier ("Blood River").

Some of the plays were produced in in various venues during 1938, as part of the centenary celebrations of the Great Trek and some on 15 December 1949 at the inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument [2] in Pretoria.
