She was a member of Hendrik Hanekom's first professional company, Die Afrikaanse Toneelspelers, for a while when she replaced Myrtle Kinnear in 1926 as "Anna" in Oom Gawerjal se Dogters en die Stemkoors ("Uncle Gawerjal's Daughters and the Election Fever"). In June 1926 when they amalgamated with Paul de Groot, became a member of the Paul de Groot Toneelgeselskap.
