Le Tripot Comique, ou La Comédie Bourgeoise ("The comic strip, or the bourgeois comedy") is a French comedy in three acts by Marie Alexandre de Théis (1738-1796)[1]

Published in Paris by Cailleau, 1774.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Dutch as De Belagchelycke Tooneelzucht Of De Liefhebbery Comedie, In De War (approx. "the silly theatrical sigh, or amateur theatre in confusion"), by Ward Bingley (1757- 1818) and published in Amsterdam by Pieter Johannes Uylenbroek in 1794.

Performance history in South Africa

1869: A play called De Liefhebbery Comedie in de War, ascribed to A.A. van der Stempel, was performed by Aurora II on 8 July in the Germania Hall, Cape Town, with Het Origineele Testament (Brink). This may have been an abridged version of, or a parody on, the Dutch version of the French play by De Théis.
