South African Theatre Union (SATU - Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Teaterunie) was the new name given to the South African Actors' Equity (Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Akteursekwiteitsvereniging) in 1969. In 1982 it expanded to include film activities and became the South African Film and Theatre Union (SAFTU - Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Film-en Teaterunie)
