South African Theatre Union
South African Theatre Union (SATU - Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Teaterunie) was a trade union for performers.

The union
The South African Theatre Union (SATU) was the new name given to the South African Actors' Equity (Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Akteursekwiteitsvereniging) in 1969.
The acronym also foud as S.A.T.U in some sources.
In 1982 SATU expanded to include film activities and became the South African Film and Theatre Union (SAFTU - Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Film-en Teaterunie) and eventually became the broader based Performing Arts Workers' Equity (PAWE)
In 2007 PAWE amalgamated with MUSA (the Musicians Union of South Africa) to form CWUSA (the Creative Workers Union of South Africa). This process began in 2005 and culminated in a Launching Congress on 7-9 September 2007 in Johannesburg.
The SATU Hall
SATU owned a meeting hall and performance venue, known as the SATU Saal or SATU Hall, in Visagie Street, Pretoria, that was often used for rehearsals and performances, inter alia by some of the PACT companies.
