Uit die Bloute ("Out of the Blue") was compiled by Ilse van Hemert based on the works of South African author, poet and journalist Eugène Nielen Marais (1871-1936).

Performance history in South Africa
Directed by Ilse van Hemert (for which she was awarded the De Kat/Herrie Prize at the KKNK 1996), starring Gys de Villiers and Anna-Mart van der Merwe. Abraham and Lizanne Helberg of the group "Marimba!" performed on stage with the actors. Design by James MacNamara and Tjaart Booysens. The play toured country-wide and was very popular with audiences.
