Written and produced in Spanish as Papá Juan: Centenario (1909),
Translations and adaptations
The Spanish original was translated into English with the title A Hundred Years Old and published in Four Plays (1927).
Translated into Afrikaans as Die Honderdste Verjaarsdag by Ants Kirsipuu (1927-2003), (husband of Wilma Stockenström).
1956: Performed in Afrikaans by the NTO as Honderd Jaar Oud.
1957: Performed in Afrikaans by the NTO in 1957 under the title Oupa Kanniedood, as translated into Afrikaans by Ants Kirsipuu, who came from Estonia seven years earlier and learnt Afrikaans well enough to do the translation. This production was directed by Jannie Gildenhuys, who also played the role of Antonon. Others in the cast were Siegfried Mynhardt, Francois van Wyk, Susan Jansen, Sann de Lange, Cobus Rossouw, Tilana Hanekom, Retha Erasmus, Eghard van der Hoven as Trino, Leonora Nel as Currita.
