Mrs Elaine Tasker, formerly Miss Elaine English before marrying James Tasker, came to Port Elizabeth in January 1946 as a speech training and dramatic art teacher at the Collegiate School for Girls. She studied at the University of Cape Town.
Contribution to South African Theatre
In Cape Town she was involved in the production of JB Priestley's They Came to a City at the Little Theatre.
She portrayed the Madonna in South Africa's only Passion Play which was staged at the Alhambra Theatre.
Also in Cape Town, she produced a pantomime for 400 "Coloured" children in the Cape Town City Hall.
