Grin and Bare It! is a one act farce by Ken McQuire (), adapted from a 1929 play by Tom Cushing (1879 – 1941).[1]

The original text
Based on Barely Proper, a 1929 play by Tom Cushing (1879 – 1941).[2], that went unperformed on Broadway during his lifetime. (Cushing subtitled it "An Unplayable Play", though the text was was published.)
The original Cushing work was set in Southern California in 1929, and dealt with a family of nudists whose daughter brings home her proper Bostonian fiancé. The play was written in the 1920's but was never commercially produced.
In 1970 it was adapted as a one-act farce (subtitled "The Unplayable Play") by Ken McQuire, and opened on March 16, 1970 at the Belasco Theatre, New York, NY.
