How Now Brown Cow is a theatre production company.
The venue
Founded by Julie-Anne McDowell during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, with Daniel Galloway as General Manager and Producer alongside Julie-Anne.
Based in South Africa, it is committed to presenting a range of world-class productions which particularly aims to commission, enable and empower South African theatre practitioners.
The company also initiated The Writer's Collective in 2020, when they commissioned 12 first draft scripts, which were then mentored by theatre makers William Nicolson, Greg Homann and Paul-Warrick Griffin. Several eventually reached second and final draft stages and 2023 saw two of these plays produced by How Now Brown Cow.
