Couplet is a play by Michelle Douglas, co-written with Steven Feinstein.

The original text
Written almost entirely in rhyming verse, the piece uses shadows, puppets and masks, employing spectacle and storytelling to look at the timeless themes of hatred, prejudice, love, redemption and transformation through the eyes of these two stage sisters, lost in a Victorian music hall somewhere in time, or their imagination.
Translations and adaptations
Performance history in South Africa
2017: Performed at the Theatre on the Square, Sandton, Johannesburg, directed by Steven Feinstein, with Michelle Douglas and Julie-Anne McDowell as two allegorical characters (Fear and Doubt). Costumes were by Sandy Muller and original music by Jahn Beukes.
