The play is an account of the racially-motivated killing of a vagrant named Tom Ruiters by a group of high school boys in 1990, drawing on court transcripts and media reports.

Performance history in South Africa

2004: The play was presented by the Port Elizabeth Opera House in The Barn in August 2004, directed by Darryl Nel, with the following cast: Darryl Nel, Niqui CLoete-Barrass, Annaline Stiglingh and Andrew Horne. The play was presented as a Double Bill with Heugh Road Blues.
