Verwagtings(“Expectations”) is a play by Deirdre Venter.

The original text
A play about two pregnant women, one the abandoned owner of a farm, the other the household help whose husband is in prison, which takes look at womanhood and how women exist not just as women but as people within their societies.

Performance history in South Africa
2007: First performed at the Wits Theatre Downstairs (21-24 March) and at the KKNK in Oudtshoorn in April, directed by André Stoltz with Renate Stuurman, Deirdre Venter, Elton Landrew and Louis Make. Venter nominated for the Slurpie-Kanna for best emerging artists for her text.
