The original text
First published as De Dans van de Reiger "een nare komedie in twee delen" by De Bezige Bij, Amsterdam and Uitgeverij Ontwikkeling, Antwerpen, in 1962.
Translations and adaptations
Filmed in 1966 as De Dans van de Reiger (and The Dance of the Heron in English), directed by Fons Rademakers from a script by Claus.
Translated into into Afrikaans by Wilma Stockenström as Die Dans van die Reier.
Performance history in South Africa
1968: Produced by PACT, opening on 4 September 1968 in the Breytenbach Theatre, with Louis van Niekerk (Edward Missaen), Wilna Snyman and Louw Verwey in the lead roles. The cast also included Anna Cloete, James Norval, Stephan Bouwer. Directed by Francois Swart. Set designed by David MacKenzie.
