Aubrey Sekhabi (1970*-). Playwright and arts adminstrator.

Training

Studied at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Dramatic Art.

Career

In 200* became Chief executive for Arts and Culture in the North West Province. In 2002 appointed Artistic Director and Deputy CEO of the State Theatre.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Plays that he wrote, co-wrote and directed, include: Back to School (1985), Save the People (1986), Stronghold (1990), Silent Voices (1992), Roadhouse (1992), Mika (1993) (FNB Vita Award for most original production 1994), Scomearound (1993), Nkonyeni High (1995), On My Birthday (1996), Homegirls (1996), Not With My Gun (co-writer, 1997), The Stick (co-writer, 1999), Interracial (co-writer, 2007), Silent Voice (2008), Mantolo The 10th Step (2008), Kalushi - The Story of Solomon Mahlangu (2010), Rivonia Trial (2010), Rhetorical (co-writer, 2012).
