Contents
Training
She holds a National Diploma in Fashion design from the Cape Technikon as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Design fromthe Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
Career
She started out as a fashion designer but she was drawn to theatre and subsequently worked at Artscape as Ladies' Costumier before becoming Head of Wardrobe at UCT Drama Department in 1997. She lectured in the history of costume for University of Cape Town Drama Department undergraduates. She also freelances as a costume and set designer.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Her freelance set and costume designs include The Fire Raisers (Baxter), Chess, Die Ballade van Koos Sas, Geoffrey Hyland's production of Macbeth (2004), Ghoema 2005-6 and Twelfth Night (Maynardville, 2006, District Six – The Musical, The Tempest (2009).
She participated in the Prague Quadrennial, an exhibition of all aspects of design related to theatre in 2007.
Awards, etc.
She was nominated for a Fleur du Cap in January 2005 for costume design Macbeth and in January 2006 for Ghoema.
Her designs for Twelfth Night won her a Fleur du Cap Award.
