Performance history in South Africa
Marlene transferred direct from the Lyric Theatre, London, to Cape Town as the first stop of a world tour. Presented by Pieter Toerien, directed by Sean Mathias, starring Siân Phillips as Marlene, Vivian Hoffman and Billy Mathias, the play opened at the Theatre on the Bay on 1 February 1998. Musical direction and incidental music by Kevin Amos.
