Jamie Bartlett (1966-2022). Actor for stage, screen and TV.
Biography
Born in the United Kingdom, he studied Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town Drama Department and did post graduate Master classes with Peter Bridgemont at Chrysalis Theatre Acting School, London. His acting career began in 1984. He took a break in 2020, choosing to go into teaching at The Finishing College, which he was a partner in.
Was married to Camilla Waldman, and the couple had one son.
Jamie's death at the age of 55 was announced om 23 May 2022.
Stage roles
While he was still a student at UCT he had a role in The Comedy of Errors (Maynardville, January 1986). Singled out as the most promising new actor of 1987 for his role in Cock and Bull Story (1986), This was followed, inter alia, by leads in East (1987); The Rainshark (1990); Maurice in Good (1990); Mojo (1997); The Fire Raisers (2000); The Great Outdoors (2000) and Death of a Colonialist (2010, 2011 and 2014).
