Elders Mooiweer en Warm (lit. trans. “elsewhere good weather and warm”) is an Afrikaans play by André P. Brink (1935-2015).

Not to be confused with the Afrikaans TV drama series called Mooiweer en Warm (KykNet 2023)[1]

Published by John Malherbe a limited edition of 1500 copies in 1965, then by Human & Rousseau in the same year. A second revised version published by Human & Rousseau in 1974

Translations and adaptations

Translated into English by André P. Brink in 1970, with the title Elsewhere Fine and Warm. Performed in 1976. The text is unpublished, though a copy of the translation is held by NELM (Collection: BRINK, André; P]: 2001. 34. 1. 14), while another copy is part of the Antoinette Kellerman collection found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department. 1971: The Afrikaans version performed by PACT, directed by Carel Trichardt with Tine Balder (Julia}, Sandra Prinsloo (Sonja), Schalk Jacobsz (George), Louis van Niekerk (Dawid), Marius Weyers (Frans). Decor by Chris van den Berg.

1976: SWAPAC Drama presented the English version, called Elsewhere Fine and Warm, directed by Johan Botha Lida Botha (Julia), Antoinette Kellermann (Sonia), Dawie Malan (George), Kobus Strydom (David), Johan Botha (Charles). Decor designed by Dawie Malan, lighting by Hans Reinhardt.
