First performed in the UK by the Soho Theatre Company at the Cockpit Theatre in London on April 13, 1993 and the US at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York on April 26, 1994. Subsequently the play has been produced in Sweden, Japan, Germany, Austria, Canada and South Africa.

1997: Staged in the Barney Simon Theatre at the Market Theatre in March 1997, directed by Barbara Rubin, with Dorothy-Ann Gould, Paddy Canavan, Leila Henriques, Louise Barnes, Susan Rossouw, Robert Hobbs. Nadya Cohen as set and costume designer, and Michael Maxwell as lighting designer.
