LASCELLES, Kendrew. Actor, comedian and mime. He starred in [[Leon Gluckman]]’s revue, ''[[Wait a Minim!]]'' at the [[Intimate Theatre]] in 1962 with musicians [[Andrew Tracey|Andrew]] and [[Paul Tracey]], and [[Jeremy Taylor]]. [[Anthony Farmer]] was the set designer. They toured the country for eleven months, visiting Durban’s [[Alhambra Theatre]], Rhodesia, Cape Town, Pretoria and Port Elizabeth before returning to Johannesburg to play at the [[Alexander Theatre]] and the [[The Colony|Colony]] in Hyde Park Hotel. ***(Tucker, 1997)

Kendrew Lascelles (1935-) [1]. English-born actor, comedian, mime, musician, writer.

Biography

He spent his youth and young childhood in South Africa, then - in 1960 - moved to the USA.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Roles in Irma la Douce (1958), Wait a Minim! (he also did the choreography), The Fantasticks, Platonic Nymph.

He wrote a few plays featuring an African dimension, including The Trophy Hunters, Exclusive Circles and Blood Oasis.
