C-Films

C-Films (1970s-1990s) was a pioneering Cape Town-based film and television production company in South Africa,

The company

Founded and led by renowned filmmaker Dirk de Villiers, it was one of the earliest prominent Afrikaans and South African TV production entities, creating classic SABC series (e.g. Die Allemans and the award-winning Boer War series Arende in 1989) and children's/educational programs like Interster (1982), Sewer Rats, Lied van die Lappop, and Thabure. Feature films included : Jantjie (1984) and Kalahari Harry (1994).

C-Films served as an early training and launching pad for many notable South African actors, crew members, and artisans entering the film and broadcast trade under difficult historical and political constraints.

The company closed following financial restructurings in the 1990s.
