Algaande word dit duidelik dat die klant wie se hare en baard hy nou besig is om te sny, daardie man is.

Volgende, Asseblief! ("Next Please!") is a radio drama by Fanus Rautenbach (1928-2011).

The original text

The drama takes the form of a long monologue by a hairdresser, containing an ominous repetition of what he was going to do to the man who had raped his wife and left her insane. As the piece progresses, it becomes clear that the customer whose hair and beard he is now cutting is in fact that man.

The play was originally published in Hoorspelkeur ("Radio play selection"), a collection of Afrikaans radio plays published by Tafelberg Uitgewers in 1983 (reprinted 1989, 1997).
