Grin and Bare It! is a one act farce by Ken McQuire (), adapted from a 1929 play by Tom Cushing (1879 – 1941).[1]

The original text
Based on Barely Proper, a 1929 play by Tom Cushing (1879 – 1941).[2], that went unperformed on Broadway during his lifetime. (Cushing subtitled it "An Unplayable Play", though the text was published by Farrar & Rinehart in 1931.)
The original Cushing work was set in Southern California in 1929, and dealt with a family of nudists whose daughter brings home her proper Bostonian fiancé. The play was written in the 1920's but was never commercially produced.
In 1970 it was adapted as a one-act farce (subtitled "The Unplayable Play") by Ken McQuire, and opened on March 16, 1970 at the Belasco Theatre, New York, NY.
