Christian Musical Theatre (CMT) is a community project in Hartebeespoort by René van Zyl and Marlene MacKay.
The venue
Founded in in 2008, the non-profit community project was inspired by the 2008 film Mamma Mia![1], and is aimed to use the magic of theatre to tell old Bible stories. - with a non-profit objective. The company website states that their aim is to do contemporary Christian musicals that convey Biblical values in an energetic, humorous and entertaining way.
The scriptwriter and co-director of the company is author René van Zyl and their annual performances have normally been performed in the Kuierkerk in Hartebeespoort, presented as community theatre events, utilizing biblical themes , but incorporating modern-day features and contemporary music.
