Tim Huisamen is an academic

Biography

He studied at the University of Cape Town, and in 1976 joined the department of Afrikaans en Neerlandistiek ("Afrikaans and Dutch studies") in the School of Languages at Rhodes University in Grahamstown.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

A well respected and often cited literary critic and teacher, he has written numerous articles on Afrikaans literature, including reviews of plays and performances over the years as well. Also biographical publications on authors such as his long-time colleague, André P. Brink.

As a student actor he appeared in a few plays, inter alia as a "Guard" in Robert Mohr's 1969 Hamlet, for the University of Cape Town Drama Department in the Little Theatre and as messenger in the Afrikaans translation of CAPAB's production of Richard III in the Hofmeyr Theatre in Cape Town (opening on 26 August 1969);
