The Eikestadnuus is a local weekly newspaper published and sold in Stellenbosch and surrounding towns (Paarl, Franschhoek, Somerset-West, The Strand and Gordon's Bay).

History
The brainchild of Schalk van der Merwe, administrative manager of the Stellenbosch publishing company Pro Ecclesia Printers, Eikestadnuus was first published on 24 March 1950.
Published primarily in Afrikaans, though with various articles and news items and adverts in English, it has had a long list of editors over the years, including Basie Botha (the first), Marie Theron, H. de Vos, Ted Ellis, Piet Jordaan, Johanna van Graan , W.A. de Klerk, Nico Uys, Sophie Hendriks, Tinka Botha, Louis Wepener, Riaan Gerber and Elsabé Retief.
Reports on the social, sporting and cultural life of the town and surrounding areas featured in the newspaper over the years. With the founding of the Department of Journalism at the University of Stellenbosch, the newspaper would become a handy training ground for the students.
