A Touch of Spring is a comedy by American playwright and screenwriter Samuel Taylor [1] (1912-2000).

Also known as Avanti!.

The original text

A full length play dealing with love and red tape and the magical atmosphere of Rome in the spring. Presented as Avanti! at the Booth Theatre, New York (Jan 31, 1968 - Feb 17, 1968), it then went on to phenomenal success in London in a revised version, suing the original title.


Published by Dramatists Play Service and by Samuel French (the revised version).

Translations and adaptations

Adapted as an award winning film with the title Avanti!, Directed by Billy Wilder with Jack Lemmon, Juliet Mills and Clive Revill. Released in 1972.

Performance history in South Africa
