Masitha Hoeane () is a playwright and community theatre specialist.
Contents
Biography
Masitha Hoeane holds a Master of Arts and Doctoral degrees in Theatre Studies from Leeds University (UK). He also holds an MA in African Literature from the University of Nairobi.
Dr Hoeane has extensive experiences as lecturer in English and Theatre Studies and has held various administrative posts over the years, including a College of Education Principle, a Dean of Students (at various institutions) and former head of UP Arts (University of Pretoria).
Contribution to South African theatre, film, media and performance
His plays include
The Distance Remains (published in The Distance Remains and Other Plays, Oxford University Press, 1996)
Let My People Play! a collection of participatory theatre plays, published by Institute of Southern African Studies, National University of Lesotho, 1994. (ISAS book series.)
Mama Mudu's Children (subtitled: A South African postfreedom tragicomedy). Published by African Perspectives Publishing, 2017 (Also in a Swahili Edition as Watoto Wamama Mudu)
