Emlyn Williams (1905-1987)[1] was a Welsh playwright and actor.

Wrote The Corn is Green and Night Must Fall, André Huguenet’s first English plays, 1940.
The Johannesburg REPS did a few of his plays including The Late Christopher Bean in 1942 and The Light of Heart in 1943.
In 1946 the Gwen ffrangçon-Davies / Marda Vanne Company, staged The Wind of Heaven, with Tom MacDonald, Gwen ffrangçon-Davies, Zoe Randall, Wensley Pithey and Sid James.
In 1954 Brian Brooke brought him to South Africa to perform his one man show Charles Dickens at the Wits University Great Hall in September and brought him back in December 1956 with Dylan Thomas: A Boy Growing Up.
His son, Brook Williams also visited the country on a few occasions, e.g. in 1959 he guest-starred in Peter Shaffer’s Five Finger Exercise at the Brooke Theatre and in 1962 he co-starred with Dame Flora Robson in , The Corn is Green at the same venue.
In 1981 Williams once more brought his Charles Dickens production to South Africa, appearing at the Market Theatre.
