The original text
A play is a about the nightmare playing itself out in the psyche of the unseen main character, "Marthinus Lourens", the psyche being represented by four identically clad clowns. According to an authorial note in the text, the title "Osseba" refers to an "ossewa" ("ox wagon") used as a liquor bar (thus an "ox bar'") in the Motel Kennedy in Harrismith in the Orange Free State.
Written in 1990 and submitted as the Stellenbosch Drama Department's entry for the 1991 Kampustoneel festival.

1991: Performed by Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch in the H.B. Thom Theatre in 1991, directed by Mark Graham, starring Waldemar Schultz, André van der Merwe, Taniya van der Merwe, Chris Vorster and Sandra Fourie. Costume designs by John Daniels and Elaine Aucamp, lighting by Kobus Rossouw and Kelly Robinson and soundtrack by André van der Merwe.
