The original text
A play about a farmer in the Kalahari who bores for water for other farmers, but is unable to find water on his own farm. When he does, using dynamite, he dies in an accident.
Originally known as Sybrand (and described as a one act play written for the South African Police Force), it was probably first performed by Terre'Blanche's own society, the Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie Toneelgeselskap and the text was published as a performance text by DALRO in 1969. The play was then published as Sybrand die Watermaker in the collection Iewers Langs die Pad by Van Schaik in 1983. The collection was prescribed for schools in 1983 and 1984.
