The Night of the Party is a play by Weedon Grossmith (1854-1919)[1].

The original text

The play was first produced in London in 1901, with Grossmith himself directing, playing the lead role, designing the scenery and painting the advertising poster.

Produced in New York by Sam and Lee Shubert and Daniel V. Arthur, the play opened at the Princess Theatre on Broadway on 6 October, 1902, and played through to December of that year.

1910: Produced by the De Jong-Black Company with a new company they had acquired in England, opening at the Tivoli Theatre, Cape Town, probably in February. The company included Herbert Ford, Augustus Wheatman, Louis du Cane, Maud Townsend and Kate Walbran.
