Le Sourd, ou l'Auberge pleine ("The Deaf, or the full hostel") is a French comedy in three acts by Desforges (Pierre-Jean-Baptiste Choudard, 1746–1806)[1].

The original text
First performed at the Théâtre de la Montansier, Paris, in 1790, and published in Paris "chez la citoyenne Toubon" in 1794-1795.
Translations and adaptations
Freely translated into Dutch by an anonymous author as De Doove, of Het Huis vol Volk, published by H. van Kesteren in Amsterdam in 1811.
Performance history in South Africa
1882: Performed in Dutch as De Doove, of Het Huis vol Volk by De Eendracht in the Oddfellows Hall, Cape Town on 25 August, with De Wraak van Carlo (Anon)
