The original text
Apparently translated from an unnamed French play, the work was first performed at the Olympic Theatre, London, on 20 October, 1836. Published in one volume with The Welsh Girl, also by Mrs Planché, by John Dicks (Vol 873 of Dick's Standard Plays)
