He studied at Maas-Philips in Cape Town
Career
He also taught at Maas-Philips for three years. He returned to Bloemfontein in the mid-1970s.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Among the plays he has acted in are The Crucible, Wedding of the Year, Romeo and Juliet, The Insect Comedy and Old Times.
For PACOFS Desmond directed The Caretaker (1981), The Metamorphosis (1982), Julius Caesar (1983), Arms and the Man (1983), Die Vryerige Spook (1984) and Macbeth (1992).
For the Bloemfontein Reps he has directed The Late Edwina Black, Children of the Wolf, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-moon Marigolds and Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi, Hay Fever (1981), .
Awards, etc
He won the Friend Centenary Award as Best Performer in 1969/70 in Bloemfontein.
For all his productions for the Bloemfontein Repertory Society he received the Best Producer of the Year Award.
Vita Award Free State region, Best Director Macbeth 1992, shared with William Egan.
National Vita Award for Equus, shared with Gerben Kamper, year unknown.
