The original text

Set in Swaziland in the 1930s, the play must have been written sometime before 1962, since a Zulu translation was published in that year (see below). The English text published in London by Oxford University Press, 1970. ISBN 9780197241806.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into isiZulu from the original English manuscript by Trevor Cope, the play was actually first published in that language, with the title Inhliziyo ngumthakathi ("The heart is a witch"). Published in Pietermaritzburg by Shuter and Shooter, 1962.

Translated into siSwati from the Zulu by Thembi Mthembu and Zodwa Ginindza, entitled Inhlitiyo ngumtsakatsi. ISBN : 0869852388. Pietermaritzburg : Shuter & Shooter. 1978.
