Verleiding ("seduction") is an Afrikaans play by Reza de Wet (1952-2012).

The original text

Jointly commissioned by the Woordfees and the KKNK festivals, the play deals with an aspect of the life of poet, playwright, naturalist and novelist Eugène Marais, using anecdotal material from the family relationship De Wet has with the Marais family.

Cast in the form of a lecture and actually performed in a lecture hall on its first appearance, the play is in the form of an academic lecture and using audiovisual clips as part of the text, the play not only satirizes academic life, but also questions the concept of truth in social and cultural research.
