Ants Kirsipuu, (1927-2003) was a linguist and translator.

Biography

He was born in Estonia and came to South Africa in 1950 and later married Wilma Stockenström. He learnt Afrikaans well enough to do translations into Afrikaans within seven years of his arrival.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He translated A Hundred Years Old by the Quintero brothers and Max Frisch's Andorra into Afrikaans (in the latter case with his wife Wilma Stockenström, credited as "Wilma Kirsipuu").
