Een Oude Rat in de Val ("An old rat in the trap") is a Dutch one-act comedy by Jan Schuitemaker (fl 1860s-1870s)
Not to be confused with the Dutch play De Oude Rot ("the old rat").

The original text
Called a "poets in één bedrijf" ("a practical joke in one act"), it was written for the Rederijkers and published in Purmerende by J. Schuitemaker in 1866.

Performance history in South Africa
1874: Produced in Dutch by the amateur company Aurora II on 9 April in the Oddfellows Hall, Cape Town, as afterpiece to Vader en Zoon (Ankersmit).
